Our client is a globally operating pharmaceutical company with a strong international footprint. On their behalf, we are looking for an experienced Group Risk & Insurance Manager to lead the company’s enterprise risk management, insurance strategy, and financial risk oversight across the group.
This is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping the company’s risk framework, ensuring business resilience, and partnering closely with executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the company in matters requiring corporate signatory authority, including company representation and bank signatory responsibilities in line with corporate governance rules.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review the Group Risk Management strategy and policies, ensuring effective execution across the organization.
- Define and oversee the framework for financial risk management, including treasury-related risks and investment portfolio oversight, in close collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Monitor financial risks and performance indicators, and manage ad-hoc financial risk situations when necessary.
- Develop and manage the framework for operational (non-financial) risk management, including risk self-assessments, incident databases, and key risk indicators.
- Establish, maintain, and regularly test the company’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework, including crisis management plans.
- Develop and oversee the Group-wide insurance strategy, ensuring optimal insurance coverage and cost-efficiency across the organization.
- Lead negotiations and contracting of insurance policies, supervise claims management, and propose measures to mitigate insurable risks.
- Oversee the Customer Risk Management (CRM) framework related to customer credit risk, including export credit insurance, bank guarantees, and other financial securities.
- Manage the tendering and negotiation processes with banks and insurance providers, maintaining relationships with subsidiaries, insurers, brokers, and other external partners.
- Prepare and present risk and insurance reports for senior leadership, including the CFO, Executive Team, and Audit Committee.
- Establish and continuously improve risk governance documentation and internal policies.
- Lead and develop the Group Risk & Insurance team, supporting capability development and process improvements.
- Participate in corporate and IT transformation projects, including initiatives related to CRM systems and S/4HANA implementation
Requirements
- University degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
- 10+ years of professional experience in risk management, finance, insurance, or related areas
- At least 5 years of leadership experience, preferably in an international environment
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, particularly with financial institutions and executive stakeholders
- Experience presenting to senior leadership and board-level committees
- Proven ability to analyze and manage complex business processes and financial risks
- Experience working with subsidiary structures and cross-border operations
