Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of cloud-native backend services.
- Define and implement scalable, secure, and maintainable architectures aligned with business and data requirements.
- Manage and mentor a team of backend developers, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture.
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance across backend systems handling complex health and genomic data.
- Establish and enforce best coding practices, including test-driven development and secure coding standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams — Data Science, Product, and DevOps — to deliver new features and system enhancements.
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines, automation workflows, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Conduct code reviews, provide actionable feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
- Integrate new technologies to enhance system efficiency and maintainability.
- Ensure compliance with DevSecOps principles and security standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Proven hands-on experience with Java and Python in production environments.
- Demonstrated success leading cloud software development programs.
- Strong expertise in AWS services and experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
- Proficiency with version control systems (preferably Git).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience in the healthcare technology domain or knowledge of industry standards and data regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is a significant plus.
